Rev. Dr. Michael Evans

The Greater Union Baptist Church Family welcomes Rev. Dr. Michael Evans as our Pastor-Elect to lead us into the next chapter of our church's history.

Dr. Evans is a native of South Hill, Virginia.  He is a 1977 graduate of Park View Senior High School. After serving honorably for 13 years in the United States Army, he returned to school to further his education with a fervent thirst for knowledge.  He is a graduate of Virginia State University, where he earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Systems Management, and a Master of Education in Business Education. He later graduated from American InterContinental University earning the Master of Information Technology degree. His quest for knowledge culminated with the Doctor of Business Administration degree with an Information Technology Concentration.  

Dr. Evans enjoyed a career educating others at the college, as well as the middle/high school level.  He feels learning is a lifelong process.  

He has served in various ministry roles such as church administrator, associate minister, and assistant pastor of administration.  Prior to coming to Greater Union, he proudly served as associate minister at North View Baptist Church, South Hill, VA, under the pastorship of Rev. Robert L. Faulcon, Sr.

He is the proud father of Chantal Evans, Elder Perry Evans II, and Jeremy Evans.  He is the grandfather of Lachaunte Evans, Akaja Evans, Ja'Niya Evans, and Emory Evans.

The vision that Dr. Evans received from the Lord is "Rising from the Ashes", and is assured in his spirit that Greater Union will rise from the ashes--better, brighter, and stronger than ever.
